Important Sermon Series:
Jump Commands
Early on, while in the 101st Airborne Division, I put together a series of messages that have served me (and Airborne soldiers) well over the years. Using the eight Jump Commands and the appropriate Biblical parallels, I wrote the following titled sermons:
- "Get Ready" - Luke 12:35-37; Psalm 46; Hebrews 10:19; Matthew 24:36-44. "Get ready for a deeper walk with the Lord; all that we have prepared and trained for is at hand. The ultimate and urgent time is here!"
- "Stand Up" - Romans 5:1-2; John 19:25-30; Hebrews 4 and 12; Psalms 1 and 27. "Let's do it! Stand up for him who is the Way, Truth, and Life."
- "Hook Up" - I Thessalonians 5:17; Ephesians 6:18; Psalm 23; Luke 9:28. "Vital life line. Prayer is Holy ground; Holy Conversation."
- "Check Static Line" - Philippians 5:17; I John 5; Psalm 27. "Vigorous check. Extreme care of those around you. The body of the concerned. The church."
- "Check Equipment" - Ephesians 6:10-20. "Check from top to bottom. Put on the whole armor of God."
- "Sound off Equipment Check" - Psalm 107:2; I Peter 1:3-5; Psalm 103:1-5. "Let the redeemed of the Lord say so."
- "Stand in the Door" - John 10:7-13. "I am the door."
- "Go!" - Matthew 28:16-30. "Great Commission. Go unto all nations... I am with you always, even to the end of the world."
